your first step to learning
Copperplate calligraphy

hey there

Want to learn copperplate calligraphy?

Copperplate in 8 Strokes is a free email course to learn the basics of pointed pen Copperplate calligraphy.

It’s the perfect first step if you:

It doesn’t even matter if you think you have bad handwriting (trust me — mine is illegible sometimes). Calligraphy is like learning to draw simple shapes and lines, then piecing them together to form letters.

So really, anyone can learn calligraphy!

In fact, I can promise that at the end of 3 weeks, you’ll be able to write these words using Copperplate calligraphy:

Minimum and Hippy in Copperplate Script

Here’s how it works

You’ll learn about the 8 basic strokes of Copperplate through 8 emails sent directly to your inbox.

Each email includes diagrams, explanations and traceable worksheets for you to learn and practice.

You’ll need to prepare a basic set of pointed pen calligraphy supplies* including a pointed pen nib, a pen holder, ink and calligraphy-friendly paper. And of course, you’ll need a printer to print the traceable worksheets!

More on these supplies and how to use them correctly here.

* If you don’t have a set of pointed pen supplies on hand yet, you can follow along with a pencil. But I don’t recommend using a brush pen, as it creates thicker lines that won’t fit the traceable worksheets.

what others are saying

Copperplate in 8 Strokes provided me with the discipline I needed to practice the basics.

It’s so tempting to just keep moving forward without critiquing ones work. And quite honestly it’s difficult to critique when you’re not really certain what to look for.

I also thought the pacing of the lessons was good. I’ve saved the lessons and know I will continue to refer to them.

about me

oh hi there!

I’m Dawn from Singapore.

After leaving a corporate job in the throes of the pandemic, calligraphy has given me more than a hobby and a creative outlet.

Calligraphy challenges me to keep learning, helps me to calm down and focus, and has connected me to so many calligrafriends around the world.
