Copperplate in 8 Strokes is a free email course to learn the basics of pointed pen Copperplate calligraphy.
It’s the perfect first step if you:
- Are completely new to pointed pen calligraphy;
- Haven’t taken a properly structured Copperplate class; or
- Learnt modern calligraphy and now want to learn Copperplate.
It doesn’t even matter if you think you have bad handwriting (trust me — mine is illegible sometimes). Calligraphy is like learning to draw simple shapes and lines, then piecing them together to form letters.
So really, anyone can learn calligraphy!

Here’s how it works
You’ll learn about the 8 basic strokes of Copperplate through 8 emails sent directly to your inbox.
Each email includes diagrams, explanations and traceable worksheets for you to learn and practice.
You’ll need to prepare a basic set of pointed pen calligraphy supplies* including a pointed pen nib, a pen holder, ink and calligraphy-friendly paper. And of course, you’ll need a printer to print the traceable worksheets!

* If you don’t have a set of pointed pen supplies on hand yet, you can follow along with a pencil. But I don’t recommend using a brush pen, as it creates thicker lines that won’t fit the traceable worksheets.
